Over eight years at Heritage Christian Academy the WATCH D.O.G.S. program has given our students’ fathers and other important male role models an opportunity to engage in the life of the school. We’ve been blessed with many WATCH D.O.G.S. who spend time in the classroom participating in the day’s activities while aiding teachers and staff. There are also opportunities to volunteer for school activities and connect to fellowship groups with other dads.
Chris Knaggs, Co-Coordinator – Chris has been leading our WATCH D.O.G.S. program since its introduction at Heritage during the 2009-2010 school year. He has been actively engaged in the day-to-day life of the school and participated in many activities with students and other fathers. Chris has three students at Heritage.
“I’ve been tremendously blessed through the WATCH D.O.G.S. program, partnering with the staff as they pour the love and truth of the Lord Jesus into our children’s lives. We turn our kids over for SO much of every year for their education and I will forever cherish these memories with the children when it was simple and sufficient enough that dad was here.”
Travis Deur Co-Coordinator – Travis has been involved with the Heritage WATCH D.O.G.S. program since its first year at our school as a volunteer and classroom coordinator. He has also regularly engaged in fellowship groups involving dads of students at the school. Travis has three students at Heritage.
“Being involved in the WATCH D.O.G.S. program has given me an insight into the day-to-day activities of my children, a renewed appreciation and respect for teachers that devote their livelihood to Christian education and has helped me to form many important friendships with fellow dads.”
“The WATCH D.O.G.S. program at HCA has been great! It’s hard to tell who has more fun during these days, me or the kids. WATCH D.O.G.S. allows me to be a servant and resource to my son’s teacher and take an active role in his education during the school day.” ~Matt Palmer, Heritage dad
“I’ve had the privilege of serving through WATCH D.O.G.S. for several years for all three of my children. I value the program because it makes a difference in the teacher’s day, creates excitement for all the students in the classroom and makes the day ultra-special for my kids. I feel blessed each time I serve as I’m able to get away from the day-to-day of my job and focus on the more meaningful things in life.” ~Tommy Dehler, Heritage dad
