A Message From HCA President Tonya Scott

Welcome to Heritage Christian Academy!

As a parent, teacher, principal, and now President, I am constantly amazed at how God continues to build His Kingdom by transforming the hearts and minds of Heritage students year after year. It is our hope that this website will serve as a window into the learning and growth that occurs every day at this school. We passionately love the Lord and are deeply rooted in God’s love and grace. Heritage Christian Academy strives daily to nurture growth in our students through the schools four core values of TRUTH, SERVICE, RELATIONSHIPS, and EXCELLENCE to the glory of God. Our desire is to have every student be well equipped through academics, fine arts, athletics, co-curriculars and in countless other daily experiences where godly teachers interact with students to help make an impact on their “world” both in the present and for the future. We feel blessed to be able to partner with parents as together we follow Proverbs 22:6 to “Train up a child in the way he should go.

Over the years, Heritage Christian Academy has gained a reputation for educational excellence and for innovation and creativity both in and outside of the classroom. Test scores and the pursuit of best practices by our remarkable staff of professional educators have proven that year after year the quality of education HCA provides is outstanding. From those crucial conceptual building blocks in the elementary school to the higher level cognition required in high school, HCA’s faculty provide a challenging and enriching college preparatory curriculum to their students.

All elements of the rigorous academic curriculum are provided within the context of God’s sovereignty and providence. Whether it is kindergartners learning number sense, middle schoolers memorizing the poetry of Robert Burns, or high schoolers exploring the wonders of the physical universe, all are taught that these things can only be properly understood in the context of God’s creative will.

We want students to be technologically wise so we’ve developed a one to one strategic initiative with iPads and laptop computers in the classroom. Along with these advances in technology, there also needs to be a balance with meaningful relationships and connections with one another, with the community and with the world around us.  Education today is so much more than classrooms, science labs, art rooms and gymnasiums. It is also playgrounds and athletic fields, missions trips and Bible studies, music rehearsals and choir concerts, and it is the relationships built between teachers and students, friends and colleagues, coaches and athletes. At Heritage Christian Academy, we want a child to grow and thrive academically, socially and spiritually.

We would like to invite you to spend time on our campus so you can fully appreciate the sense of love and community that pervades our school. Sometimes it can be seen most clearly in the personal attention a child gets from their teacher, other times in the joy taken in the success of a fellow student. Sometimes it can be felt during the weekly chapel services, other times it is most evident during the lunch table conversation. But one thing is certain, there is an oft commented upon sense that the Spirit of God is at work in this school and in the lives of its students.

These are just a few of the exciting things that are happening at Heritage Christian Academy as we strive to be a school that pays attention to not just test scores, but also wants our students to have hearts and minds transformed by Jesus. The leadership of the school is committed to the mission and vision of EQUIPPING MINDS | ENGAGING HEARTS | ENCOUNTERING JESUS CHRIST while staying actively engaged in strategic planning so that our students and staff will always have the greatest opportunities available to learn and to grow; for we can do nothing less if we are doing it in God’s name.
