Kindergarten Development
Heritage Christian Academy offers an early educational opportunity to students in a kindergarten developmental program. This academic program is a integral part of a child's educational experience at Heritage Christian Academy and therefore is regarded as part of the school as a whole.
Kindergarten Development is a full day program. Two classes of a maximum number of sixteen students with a full time teacher and classroom assistant meet either Monday, Wednesday and Friday OR Tuesday and Thursday each week. Loving, thoughtful nurture to the whole child permeates all areas of the school experience for our students, evidenced especially by the careful attention shown to our youngest ones. Both classes enjoy core (Math, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts and Bible) curriculum classroom instruction, along with "specials" like weekly foreign language, daily Music, PhyEd and Art. Reading and Mathematics receive special emphasis in daily instruction as foundational areas of learning.
The minimum age requirement for Kindergarten Development is four years old by September 1st of the desired enrollment year. Because of its academic nature and full day schedule, the program is especially well-suited to older four and younger five-year-olds.
The KD program is voluntarily self-monitored by the School Board and Administration. In accordance with Minnesota statutes, an early educational classroom in a parochial/private school presently does not require separate licensure from the K-12 school. Heritage Christian Academy complies with this statute and with applicable laws and policies in all other respects.
