Tech Crew
Tech Crew Information is here!Do you love all things electronic? Do you want to learn to use sound system equipment? Then HCA Tech Crew is for you! This year HCA will train a group of three to four students to set-up, tear-down and run sound equipment and then provide an opportunity to put those skills to practice during weekly chapels and other HCA events. Tech Crew is NOT a club, so you can still participate in the club you sign up for! If you are interested in becoming a member of our HCA Tech Crew, please review the application for more details, complete and submit your application to Mr. Wipf (electronic applications accepted) no later than Thursday, September 18. Feel free to contact Mr.Wipf at jwipf@heritagemail.org with any questions you may have regarding this exciting student opportunity. A link to the application is found below.

Summer Letter
Summer 2008
Dear Parents and Students,
I would like to start by thanking all of you, both parents and especially students, who made my first year at HCA such an enjoyable one. There’s no question I have found an excellent school with great people when I find myself missing the students, staff and parents of HCA and this is only a summer break! So, thank you again!
I am looking forward to another great year and to teaching the same class schedule with just a few adjustments. My classes will include ninth grade Geography, eighth grade Bible and seventh grade World Studies. In addition to those three classes, I will be directing the eighth grade theater arts students in both their fall and spring productions. Lastly, I have the opportunity to head up the HCA Sound and Tech Crew.
If you are a ninth grader, be ready to begin applying what Mr. Freeberg taught you last year in Earth Science as we investigate how climate impacts people around the world. In Geography, our focus will not only be on learning where important places are located but to begin to understand how the physical process of the world impacts how we live. You will find that true geography is as much a study of the people living in the world as it is on the world itself!
For eighth graders, I am excited to begin going through the Old Testament with you investigating why God included the stories He did in the Bible. My estimation (and this was proven last year) is that most of you know a lot of the OT stories so our primary focus will be on understanding what God is doing in the OT, who God is and how we know that from the OT.
In seventh grade, we will investigate how cultures of the world came to be what they are today. We will start in England and work our way to South America, Asia, Africa and even Oceania. So, I hope you are ready to ask the question “Why?” and look for answers to that question!
The exciting new areas I will officially be teaching this next year include Theater Arts and the Sound and Tech Crew. In Theater Arts, our schedule will be similar to last year’s schedule. Theater Arts students will again perform at Barnes and Noble in the fall and perform a play for spring semester.
As for Tech Crew, I would like to put together a team of three to five students, who are excited about sound tech. Our main task will include chapel set up, but we also will be in charge of setting up for other HCA productions (i.e., graduation, concerts, Theater Arts productions). Experience is preferred, but not required, as training comes with the job. This is NOT a Thursday club activity, it is a special group of student workers. More information and applications will be available on my website and the Daily Bulletin.
My summer has been full of travel, weddings and rest. In June, I had the privilege of speaking at Byron Bible Camp (SD), where I spent many years as a camper. We focused on learning what truth is and how God wants us to love Him. I attended numerous weddings over the summer, which were awesome, and then went to work at Interscapes in North Minneapolis.
The Lord has still been working on teaching me about dependence this summer, as I have reflected more on Romans 1:17, where it states that the one who is by faith righteous shall live and the reality that He is the food we need to truly live. It is a challenge to really trust God in day-to-day situations, especially when so many of the situations I found myself in this summer were positive ones. So, please pray with me for continued dependence on Him as I prepare to see you this coming year!
Looking forward to seeing you!
Mr. Jason Wipf
